Overview
Confucianism is a religion that approximately 6 million people follow. It is originated in China, however there are 26,000 who live in north america. Confucius was born in 551 B.C.E in Shantung province. He was afraid that the Chinese culture would be destroyed, so he came up with a developed system that encourages people and social unity. This was known as Confucianism, to some it was a religion, however, to others it was a philosophy. Confucianism is a philosophy made up of the teachings of Confucius. He first wanted to become a government official, so he travelled almost through the whole of china. However, he was unable to join office, so instead he became a wandering teacher. He taught his students his beliefs and philosophy and his followers thanked him by collecting his teachings in a book called the Analects. There are five main confucian virtues: Kindness, Righteousness (justice), Ritual etiquette, faithfulness and filial Piety.
